One Site Too Many
For the past years I have become quite the phenomenal internet whore (along with my cousin of course). I believe that there is not one site we have not been active in, enrolled in, or at least heard of.
Two days ago I was going through my ever-growing bookmark list of social sites and by God I can’t even recall when or why I joined those sites. I haven’t been active there nor have I really interest in them or even any time to give them enough attention.
In fact I noticed I waste so much time on unnecessary online crap it is unbelievable. I already cut down on lots of it but it looks like I will cut down on more.
If you’re an avid Digger or Stumbler you know what I mean. It is an exhausting task to be actively responsible for digging and stumbling and rating and reviewing each or most sites you visit. Even though you’d be contributing to the cumulative community, is it really what YOU want?
Sure, for a while, it is fun. But keeping up with so many people and events in so many areas takes a whole lot of time - time I can’t always afford or have the luxury to distribute left and right.
So with that I will be cutting down and closing accounts on many of these sites. Not that my dormant existence there will ever hurt my search results but perhaps meaningful ones are much better than those with me everywhere on the net. And everywhere isn’t truly credible.
Interestingly though people who got through my Digg and Stumble list know enough about me to strike up good conversations! So I guess there are some advantages after all.

What a good heart you have there, closing accounts you never use
